Buy Antique FRENCH FASHION PLATE in Red and Mauve of Capes and Wraps, c. 1862, La Mode Illustree French Fashion Illustration Antique Vintage

This Antique hand-tinted French Fashion Plate dates from 1862 and is a marvelous window into French fashion history. An actual page from one of the earliest fashion magazines, 'La Mode Illustree' , featuring 'Les Toilettes de la Mon. Gagelin, Paris" illustrating a selection of capes, jackets and wraps in red, mauve and black. It measures roughly 14 " by 10 ".

This beautiful print was bought at auction in Paris. It does show wear of the ages with a little tearing around the edges, but in my experience once adhered to a backing, it is stable and charming once framed (see some of our other similar prints in frames at the link below). This double sized page - twice as large as the average antique fashion plate - was clearly the center page of the periodical not only because of its size, but also because there is a barely discernible crease down the center.
