Rare - Star D Davidson “Comet” Vintage 1950's 3-way Pan / Tilt Head Aluminum Tripod Made by The Davidson Optronics Company of Los Angeles, CA. in Good Vintage Condition (USA Made).

An interesting looking, heavy-duty aluminum tripod that's perfect for use taking photos or shooting videos though it's sure to add visual interest & conversational décor to any space so, we think it also begs to be displayed as vintage décor or upcycled into something cool if not for use!

A well-made, eye-catching, mid-century tripod made of brushed aluminum and chrome plated accents that features a 3-way buy pan/tilt head that provides 360° panoramic rotation on a quick release camera mount. Each leg has 2 telescopic sections with twist-style locks and measure 19” H (26 ½” H with mount) to 47” H (54 ½” H to mount) when fully extended. Then, by turning the handle crank that raises the geared center column, the tripod reaches over 70” tall (depending on the terrane its placed on).

Folded measures 28” L x 5” diameter, weighs 4.12 lbs.

Note (images/condition) – good overall condition though 2 of 3 telescopic legs have 1 section each that will not twist closed, and 1 leg is 3/8” shorter than the other two when fully raised (I've read that the telescopic legs can be completely repaired if you remove the screws in the base and do something with the brass inserts underneath - though I'm not sure what exactly ;). Also, the exterior finish has some cloudy looking spots on 1 leg, and there are scuff / ding marks with patina throughout.
