I hand painted this large gourd into a Strawberry lover's dream birdhouse. Not only is it a bird house but also a pretty piece of art for the garden.

I first sealed then sponge painted the background with many layers of blues and white. I added Strawberries, leaves, flowers by applying many layers of paint, then shading and highlighting each for a realistic look. They look sweet and juicy and just ripe for picking. I also added the word strawberries on the front and Strawberry Patch on the back. Written in black and lined with white. I splattered with black and white speckles. There are 4 small holes drilled into the bottom for drainage. A coiled wire is buy attached through a hole in the top for easy hanging.

It measures 12" tall (including the short stem) x about 8 inches wide x a 25" circumference. 18 1/2" total height including the coiled wire hanger. The entrance hole is 2" wide.

This piece of art would be best in a protected area out of the hot summer sun and freezing temperatures, under a shade tree or protected patio is best.

Perfect gift for a strawberry lover, gardener, birdwatcher, housewarming gift or yourself.

It is finished with several layers of UV Satin varnish.
As with all of my outdoor products, I do try my best to give many applications of paints and varnishes to protect them from the outdoor elements. It is recommended to place the painted art in an area of your garden that is protected from heavy winds, harsh sun and extreme cold. Bringing indoors is ideal for extreme weather conditions. Applying additional UV varnish as needed is also recommended.

Gourds are extremely fragile if dropped on a hard surface, please handle with care.
