Beautiful vintage gold plated bronze Belgian Art Medal dated from 1921, a commemorative medallion celebrating the inauguration of the commemorative monument in Salm buy Chateau Belgium, a town in the French language province of Wallonia. The front of the medal features a beautiful Art Nouveau angel posing prettily above the small shield with the town name engraved in the center. Below the angel is the metalist artist's signature, "Jos. Fisch". This unique medallion measures 50mm in diameter or 2 inches, and weighs 44 grams. Condition is very good, there is some wear to the goldplating and on some parts of the angel the bronze color can be seen, but which actually gives the design a lovely two tone look, which I personally find quite captivating. The reverse side features a laurel wreath and in the center the embossed wording and the date. No loss to the goldplating on the reverse but there are some dark marks of age and a nice patina. Some micro scratches from age, use, storage. A lovely and quite unique medal for your collection or to be hung from a chain to be worn as a statement necklace.
