4 reclaimed vintage limestone water filtration spheres (orbs) from the Atlanta Water Works

the river balls were part of a filtration system for drinking water-
they used a layer of these spheres along with sand and gravel to remove silt from the river water
*they are frequently labeled as marble, but they are porous limestone
they have a rough texture with some natural hues of gray and orange
first saw them a few years ago in an room designed by Ralph Lauren-
since then, they have appeared in a number of decorating magazines and buy photo shots
if you look through the pictures, you will see that I have used gold and silver gilt sheets to partially cover a few of my orbs. I think it gives a good look against the white
spheres weigh over 1 lb. and have a circumference of approximately 9 1/2"
