For lovers of historic poetry, I am offering for sale an 1895 ILLUSTRATED EDITION hardcover of the well loved Poem "EVANGELINE: A TALE OF ACADIE" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. The Minnehana Edition, it was published by the George M Hill, Van Cleve Andrews Company, New York.

This antique treasure has an ornate embossed gilt cover and lettering on green cloth boards The front presents an intricate picture of a cloud-filled sky, running river, and flowered vines. This ILLUSTRATED VERSION contains an engraved portrait buy of Longfellow as frontispiece plus full and partial page illustrations scattered throughout most of the book. It measures 5 1/4" x 7 1/4". The poem is 98 pages long, with an additional 8 pages in notes.

Over 125 years old, the book is aged. The inside pages are clean. The pictures are crisp. Its bright green cover has faded with obvious signs of shelf wear. The outside pages are dusty. The front and back page bindings show signs of separating, but are till holding the pages together. On the inside back cover is written in pencil "L2 = 5487" ?? . Please see the pictures.
