Item type: Original colour painting, oil or acrylic, painted on stretched fabric (canvas or linen), framed.
Subject: A mix of garden flowers including a white buy rose, blue viola, other white and yellow flowers, various leaves and stems. On a subtle graduated background of pale green and pinky-cream. Romantic style. Fine brush stokes. Lovely muted, gentle colours.
Artist: Signed 'Marianne'.
Frame details: Open front moulded wooden frame, in muted old gold colour and underlying red, with leaf shape mouldings to front, small beading to mid-edge, muted subtle green velour fabric inner edging, and gold colour plastic bevelled inner edge. Open back on frame with pinned and taped back edges. Metal eyes/rings with cord for hanging.
Size: External dimensions, including frame, approx 12 7/8 x 11 x 1 inches (1 5/8 inches including rear built-up edges). Upright.
Condition: Painting surface has some fine crackle lines on the left, and a little on the right, but the rest of the painting is very good with minor signs of age. Frame edges have general wear, spots and scuffs but nothing unusual, and patina in/around the mouldings. Fabric edging has a little wear and marks.
