Vintage Rosenthal 'Century New Wave' Footed Tea Cup with Saucers by Dorothy Hafner (decoration) & Tapio Wirkkala (form 'Century'), material: porcelain.

Beautiful Rosenthal Century New Wave footed coffee cup and saucer . This design is from their studio line range and each piece is signed and numbered. This china was designed by Tapio Wirkkala who was commissioned by Rosenthal to create the New Century range of tabletop for their 100th anniversary. The award winning design features an abstract textured porcelain and integrated "feet" that provide visual interest by elevating the piece from the table. Rosenthal then had Dorothy Hafner, who at the time was one of the most well reputed representatives of the Avant-Garde in the Ceramic Design Business, ad here Memphis inspired "New Wave" design to the china.

This design was the winner of the 1988 tabletop award. Each piece of china has Dorothy Hafners name on it. This is a beautiful coffee cup and saucer and would compliment any home.
