This is a rare dated 1913 New Orleans Mardi Gras "Rex" King of the Carnival brass souvenir tray. No manufacturers markings. 5.75" x 4.25" oval 1" raised edges. weight 2 oz. There is some tarnishing and natural patina. Was gently cleaned with mild soap and water. The tray has a raised image of the King in the center and says "REX 1913 NEW ORLEANS". The side walls are reticulated and the outside edges have a French inspired design. History Note: The Rex King is chosen every year for the Mardi Gras carnival/parade to help lead the festivities.
