For sale I have a very nice piece of stretch glass made by The Fenton Glass Company of Williamstown, West Virginia. The color is celeste blue stretch and the shape is known as buy a candy dish. The candy dish stands 6 1/8" tall to the top finial on the cover and it is 5 1/2" in diameter at its widest point. The foot has a diameter of 3 1/2".
The candy dish and cover displays a wonderful baby blue base glass with very vibrant iridescence. The colors are just splendid as you can see brilliant fuchsias and purples. The candy dish bottom sits on a blue stem with a blue round foot. The pattern is raised panels and it is on the exterior part of the candy dish bottom and top and cannot fell it on the inside. There is iridescence on the exterior and the interior.
The candy dish is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings to the bottom or top cover. There is a small inclusion (trapped sand spec) inside the glass on the foot and this is pictured. The piece is unsigned as is true with this early pattern. More than likely had a paper label at one time. This is a very nice candy dish. Those collector's of Celeste Blue Stretch and Fenton who want an nice example in both form and iridescence will be extremely pleased with their purchase.
This piece was made circa 1920's.
