Leather Gambler's Hat
Also known as a Maverick Hat, presumably named for the late James Garner's character and the title of his TV show, "Maverick." May also be referred to as simply a Cowboy Hat.
4/5 ounce Cowhide, 1/16 to 5/64 inch (1.6 to 2.0 mm) thickness. Brim is two layers, twice as thick.
Dyed an Acorn Brown
Close-ups of crown show its incredible distressed and rustic appearance
Small Size Fits Roughly 53.5 cm (21 inch) head circumference, maximum.
[For a circumference of perhaps an eighth or quarter inch more, the inside of the brim may be wet and placed to dry on one's head to stretch just a bit.]
Hat Band, also handmade, consists of braided Latigo leather with a silver plated, Celtic Knot Concho.
Leather hand cut, hand sewn and hand dyed. Sewing done with waxed string for durability and long life. With proper care, the Hat will last decades.
I have not curled the sides of the brim, as mine has been done, to allow for the Buyer to shape it to suit his/her taste. To train it without wetting the leather and possibly losing some of its color, it can be curled over large dowels on either side and left for a day or two to settle into the desired shape.
[See last photo of my own hat and how it's held up over the past five years. The first time I wore it, the wind blew it off my head buy in a parking lot and a car was backing up and stopped on it. When the fellow moved forward and off the hat, there was no damage whatsoever.]
Buyers other than in the U.S. must send me a destination so that I can quote accurate shipping charges.
