Up for sale is this absolutely stunning piece I recently picked up at a high-end estate sale in Brentwood. It depicts an expressionist courtyard scene. I love the shocks of purple and white throughout the scene, which gives it an almost Edvard Munch type vibe. The piece is signed at lower right, and I believe it reads, "Hoa," though it is possibly "Aoa." It's an amazing piece that would look great anywhere. The frame is equally cool. It is an intricately-carved picture box frame that is definitely worth more than the opening price. It's an absolute steal and will make a fine place in a cool collection. Based on the age of the canvas, I think this easily dates to the 1950s through 1970s. The painting is in excellent condition. When buy viewed up close, you can see numerous instances of faint cracquelure, but it is consistent with age and not very noticeable. Frame is in excellent condition. Painting measures 20" high x 16" wide. Frame measures approx. 25" high x 21" wide.
