This magnificent silver tone brooch/pendant was made by Kenneth Jay Lane.
It features a large blue faux sapphire crystal, surrounded by a halo of clear stones.
KJL often copied fabulous old pieces and the simplicity of this style makes me wonder if he duplicated someone's 18th century genuine piece.
I don't know when this piece was made. The signature is "Kenneth Lane" on two lines, with the copyright symbol to the left of his last name. Some sources say this is an early signature and some say it was used throughout his life. The reverse of the brooch isn't as nicely finished as his earliest pieces, so I'm guessing this dates from the 1990s.
The brooch is about 1 3/4 inches tall and has a bale so it can be used as a pendant.
It is in good condition with some patina and buy nicks to the bezel setting surrounding the central stone.
