Unused vintage damask bedding fabric. Still sewn to a duvet cover
Approximately in the middle of the 20th century, around 1950.

Deep burgundy / dark red linen damask with chrysanthemum pattern and delicate foliage. Still sewn to a large double sleeper duvet cover with button closure. The cover was wrapped in old transparent film. The film has decomposed with age. Delivery without original packaging.

Fabric coupon. Size approx. 156 cm / 1.7 yard wide and 200 cm / 2.18 yard long. Sewn from 4 m / 4.37 yard fabric. Weight approx. 965 grams.

Sample size approx. 18 x 25 cm, distance in the row approx. 11 cm. The patterns are offset, as usual in the fifties.

Merciertes Leinen, Buntdamast / Seidendamast. The fabric was super hard to photograph :-( Depending on the incidence of light, the color changes slightly. It looks sometimes brighter, sometimes a little darker. Small color deviations from the photo are therefore possible.
The last photo comes very close to the original. It is a dark shade of red with a blue cast, just bordeaux...

The fabric shines a bit. I think it's actually too bad for bed linen...
Evening wear, such as a tight, long cocktail dress, or a ball gown with a wide swinging skirt, or a festive costume would be much more appropriate for him. Also as a Christmas tablecloth, or as a curtain in a salon with antique furniture, he would certainly do well?
