This wonderful wooden chess set is made from the best pieces of lime-tree
and it is perfectly finished by hand.
The board doubles up as a box containing the pieces and
the design is carved into the wood.
The dark squares are carefully stained to allow the natural beauty
of the wood grain to shine through.
The dividing lines and number/letter references are near black.
The lighter squares are left as pale natural wood and
lacquered to provide the perfect finish.
The chessmen are made from hornbeam wood,
which is carved and finished by hand.
The dark playing pieces are stained and lacquered in a way
that allows the natural wood grain to show through,
the lighter pieces are natural wood similar in colour to
the lighter squares on the board and lacquered.
