These days I find the north east coast a huge inspiration for my work. The imposing boulders which protect the town from the sea I always find hypnotic. During the process of painting I was affected by the current social issues which seem to mirror the washed out colours of the early 1970s. The monochrome style is an emotive glimpse into my state of mind.
My main inspiration for my work is architectural landscapes and I try not to draw or paint traditional postcard landmarks. I am a lecturer in Construction and the Built Environment and I use my work to hopefully inspire my students.
