This is a very lovely SILK PRINT of a Sandhill Crane feeding with head and beak reaching down through the reeds and into the water. My sister sees the Sandhill Crane UNDER water. We all see what we see!

The design is printed onto paper-backed SILK Habotai. This is designed to run through my exceptional printer and takes the inks beautifully. The size of the print is 8.5" X 11 (this includes a 1/4 inch white border for framing purposes) and will come with a backing board of 1/4" archival foam core and in a plastic sleeve. This is a lovely print. Colors are very rich. The quality of the print is wonderful. A complimentary, matching greeting card on fine card stock is included.

The design is from an original BATIK I created in 2017. BATIK is a unique process of using hot wax to DRAW the design; the wax creates a RESIST. Dyes are added either by painting them on or by dipping the fabric into a vat of the desired color. The waxed design remains since the wax resists the dying. It is sometimes hard to comprehend without actually seeing it done. I often compare the process to Easter egg dying. Think of using a wax crayon to write your name. Then you dip the egg into a cup of yellow dye. You now have a yellow egg with white name. You let the egg dry. Then you want yellow polka dots. So using your wax crayon, you wax out polka dots. Now you dip the egg into a cup of blue dye. Blue over yellow buy is green, right? So now you have a green egg, with yellow polka dots and a white name. The final waxing will be to create green lines. So we draw the wax crayon onto the areas of the green egg where we want lines. Doing rings around the center is nice. Our final dipping of the egg is into a dark, dark navy blue. So we end of with a dark, navy blue egg, with green rings, yellow polka dots and white writing for your name.

This design is one of MY favorites.

I like my followers to know that fully 25% of the profit of this print will go to my local non-profit, Native Animal Rescue of Santa Cruz. They are a wonderful and necessary rescue facility that has helped our injured and orphaned wildlife over and over and over. I can't say enough about them. So know that your purchase will be helping wildlife.

Thank you for viewing for shop. I hope you take a moment to noodle around. I am in the process of revamping it so pardon my dust.
