Edison pearls are a type of freshwater pearl that is cultured using methods used on saltwater pearls such as Tahitian pearls. An Edison pearl has a shell bead nucleus (center) the same way a Tahitian pearl does. This method helps the mollusk have a round base to build the nacre on. The natural colors of an Edison pearl most commonly include peachy pink, light purple, dark purple, and white. One Edison pearl is cultured at a time per mollusk - enabling more energy to go toward building a larger, vibrant and more buy attractive pearl.
