DETAILED MEASURING GUIDE FOR CUSTOM SIZES (up to 24 inch back length)

*Measurements should be taken with a soft measuring tape while the dog is standing.
*Take all measurements in inches. Feel free to use half or quarter inches. Do not round up or down.
*View our Measuring Guide diagrams located in the listing photos, it will help give you a visual idea of where to measure.
*Tip: use a lick mat or have someone give the dog treats for easy measuring.

Length Measurements

BACK: Shoulder blades to tail base (do not start from the neck). It's very important that you feel for the shoulder blades (instead of the neck) to get an accurate back length measurement.

BODY: Chest to rear end. It's normal and expected for this measurement to be larger than the back measurement. If it's not, double check your back measurement. Make sure the body measurement is only a side profile measurement, meaning you should not wrap the measuring tape around the buy chest or rear end at all and should just measure the full length of the body.

INNER LEG: Front inner leg to back inner leg. This measurement is from the front armpit to the back armpit. Don't push up into the armpits much or the measurement may be off. A smaller number means more armpit room so don't be afraid if your measurement is on the lower side.

FRONT LEG: Armpit to ankle. Take the measurement from the armpit (inner front leg) to right above the paw (the ankle). Don't push up into the armpit much or the leg length will be too long.

PAW WIDTH: Width of largest part of the paw. Whichever paw is largest (front or back) can be used for this measurement. Make sure this is only a width measurement and not a circumference measurement.

Circumference Measurements- Full distance around

NECK CIRCUMFERENCE: Where a collar would sit. Measure the full distance around the neck where a collar would sit, which is usually a bit further up than the back measurement placement.

CHEST CIRCUMFERENCE: Largest part of chest. This is located right behind the front legs. Measure all the way around the largest part of the chest.

WAIST CIRCUMFERENCE: Smallest part of waist. This is typically located right before the back legs. Measure all the way around the smallest part of the waist. It's normal and expected for this measurement to be smaller than the chest measurement.

ANKLE CIRCUMFERENCE: Around the ankle. Measure around the ankle of the leg (right above paw). The front or back leg can be used. If one is larger, use the larger leg.

*Make sure you take accurate measurements. Our custom size patterns are drafted based on your dog's exact measurements so it's important they're precise and correct. Feel free to leave us a note at checkout if you'd like us to make them a bit looser than normal.
*Don't forget to provide us with your dog's breed in the personalization section. This helps us with fit. If the breed isn't provided, we will assume the pajamas are for a pitbull.

*Disclaimer: Dog clothes may migrate down the dog's neck, especially when they sleep or lay down. This is normal and unfortunately unavoidable. We combat the issue as much as possible, and taking accurate measurements can help too.
