Rabbit Proof Wrap
The back of this vintage style apron replicates the front for total coverage. It slips over your head, rests on the shoulder, and ties at each side. There are 2 large buy pockets of the front pane, over which hangs the removable vintage dish towel. It is attached by 3 large vintage buttons. The shoulder seams are French, the edges are all trimmed in 1/4" double fold bias tape, and the neck is decorated with vintage lace.

In the 1930's the Australian Government began an enactment against the native peoples. Part of it was removing the children from their parent and placing them in orphanages. The other was building what they called the " Rabbit Proof Fence" across the country.
Three little girls ran away from an orphanage, outsmarted trackers and government police & walked a 1000 miles back to their home. True story.
In the documentary a ranch woman, wearing a similar styled apron to the one I offer here, gave the girls food and warm coats to help them on their journey.
It is in remembrance of kindness, persistence, appreciation and respect, that I offer this style of apron.
