Product code: Antique French long heavy cast bronze d'or gilt buy metal ormolu furniture mounts or garnitures pair

A superb pair of long, heavy cast bronze d'or furniture mounts, in French Eighteenth Century Louis XVI style, with gilt ormolu finish.
These heavy antique cast items are in good condition although a little dusty. There were found in the attics of an eighteenth century noblemans house. You might like to clean them up a little, although the gilding is still bright.
The furniture mounts were commonly used in the design of French Eighteenth Century furniture to protect the edges and corners of furniture pieces as they were moved around within the room or from home to home. It was usual for wealthy families to have several houses and to take their furniture with them when they moved from one to another.
These mounts feature swagged and braided fabric, with foliage and garlands of harebell flowers, and the bottom of the mounts has the crossed arrow quiver and flaming torch symbols of the French Royal Family, all frequently used motifs in Louis XVI design pieces.
Size of each is approx 24cm high, 6cm wide and 2cm deep. There are small holes to allow the items to be secured to furniture.

I have two pairs of these mounts in stock. If you choose 2 from the quantity box, you will receive 4 garnitures ie two pairs. As these items are heavy, carriage is quite expensive. Any postage overcharge will be refunded once your order is packaged.

We are able to post out parcels from Metropolitan France and shipping fees are shown. Please allow plenty of transit time, as European post is notoriously slow!
*The customer is responsible for any import duties incurred for an item. We will require a telephone number to add to the customs forms, to help prevent any delays or transit problems. If you refuse delivery of an item due to customs costs, please be aware that your parcel's postage costs will be forfeit, although we are happy to refund the item purchase price upon return.
**Please also note that most deliveries within France and some other European Union countries are usually made to a Pont Relais collection point, there are usually a number of these located in shops and supermarkets in each town, and you will be given the opportunity to specify which one you prefer if this service is available for your location. Otherwise I will select the shop with the longest opening hours within your area. Deliveries to most other European destinations are generally to your doorstep unless it is much cheaper to use Pont Relais.
***Currently deliveries to the UK may be impacted by Brexit paperwork and procedural delays, if you are based in the UK please feel free to message me for an estimate of shipping availability, timescale and cost. This situation is becoming easier as time goes by. The sales tax is being included in any sales so there should be nothing extra due to pay when your parcel arrives, subject buy to customs clearance.

Our items are carefully selected antique and vintage pieces from France and they show the character and charm of years of use. We do not sell new or reproduction items so you can expect to find signs of the age and life that the piece has led. We believe this history adds to the story of an item. Obvious damage and faults will always be mentioned in our descriptions but minor age-related condition issues are not considered a detriment.
