The basic structure of Pinatex is similar to felt. The surface is coated, water-repellent and embossed with a coarse leather pattern.

WHAT MAKES OUR KHALEAFA BASIC PRODUCTS SO SPECIAL?

The entire manufacturing process takes place under the highest possible environmentally friendly, sustainable, plastic-free and fair conditions.
From sewing thread, the basic material Pinatex, our tools to shipping and packaging - wherever possible, we buy as regional, plastic-free and/or sustainable as possible and spare no costs.

The high-quality sewing thread is synthetic fibre-free and consists of tear-resistant linen fibres, which are grown in France and processed into yarn.

The base material Pinatex is obtained from pineapple leaf fibers. The leaves are generated as "garbage" during the pineapple harvest. Under fair working conditions, the fibres are extracted on site and the rest is used as biofertilizer.

The sewn-in hemp webbing comes from a small business in Austria. Hemp webbing is extremely tear-resistant, synthetic fiber-free and naturally sustainable in cultivation. The plant does not require large fertilizers and is even a soil conditioner.

What is indispensable in any dog collar are metal parts/closure parts.
Since these metals are not mined in Europe and there are hardly any deposits, the material comes almost exclusively from Asia. Usually the buckles are also made there, as it is cheaper.
We could not find a European producer in this area, but we would like to ensure transparency in the origin of the article - if metal parts of European origin are processed in one of our products, you will find this in the article description. Many of our jewelry accessories are e.B. "made in EU".

* FURTHER MATERIAL INFORMATION ABOUT Pinatex:

The leather-like material Pinatex is made of approx. 72% pineapple leaf fibres are produced, which are generated as waste during buy pineapple cultivation. This forms the basis of the material.

18% PLA - also called polylactic acid, is obtained from renewable and natural raw materials.
Polylactide plastics are biocompatible and biodegradable and compostable under industrial conditions.

The water-repellent coating consists of water-based 5%Bio-PU and 5%PU.
A water-based PU coating has a completely solvent-free manufacturing process with the same property profiles as conventional PU coatings.
The coating process also requires 50% less energy and 95% less water than before, as no solvent has to be washed out after coating.
Pinatex is dyed with GOTS - certified color pigments that are REACH-compliant.
