Beautifully handcarved hair fork, completely handmade in Alder wood with a gorgeous crescent moon on top. Carved and sanded smooth it was then hand polished with beeswax. One of its great features is that this crescent moon can be waxing or waning, whichever side you choose to wear.

The crescent moon is a symbol of the Goddess. The crescent moon can be either waxing (going towards the full moon), or waning (going towards the new moon). The waxing moon is symbolic of growth, creativity, etc. The waning moon is for the buy opposite, for example, banishing negativity. The crescent moon also symbolizes two of the aspects of the Goddess. The waxing moon symbolizes the maiden, and the waning moon symbolizes the crone.

Please, bear in mind that wood is a natural product with each piece of wood being unique in grain and color, and that this is a handmade piece, therefore we cannot guarantee that it will look exactly as the one pictured. We are making wearable art. We will cut and prepare the wood, hand-carve it, sand it and polish it with natural beeswax after your purchase. This hair pin is 7.9 inches (20 cm) long and 3.3 inches wide (8,5 cm). The usable length is 4.3 (11 cm).

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT SHIPPING TIMES:
The processing time for this piece is a bit long, however it is the time we need to maneuver around life's little surprises, family, 3 kids, day jobs, schools, etc. This doesn't mean we're not flexible or that we'll only ship it on the last day. No way! We'll send it as soon as we finish it, and if you need it faster we'll do our best: just send us a message explaining, we'll tell you if we can accommodate you and we'll work as fast as we can to make you happy.

We strive to use only natural, eco-friendly materials in our pieces. We want to be sustainable in every way possible, so we use materials that will not harm us, the wearer or our planet. Our hair accessories are finished simply with beeswax and hand polished until we achieve a smooth glowing appearance, therefore we do not recommend wearing them with wet or damp hair. However, if you notice the wax getting water stained, just reapply some beeswax and polish it and your hair toy will be back to it's shiny and smooth self!

Our wood always comes from sustainable sources. No tree has ever been cut down to supply our needs. We source the wood from local gardeners and lumbermen, so it comes from pruned trees or from trees that died standing. This accounts for some natural variations in the wood color or grain. Also, our friends all know what we do, so once in a while, when they tend to their gardens and trees, we get some wood as a present!
