About The Writer Illustrated:

Founded by Warwickshire born couple David & Lenora Minto, both highly distinguished artists working within their own different mediums. They have now united to bring their amazing talents together to produce unique, handmade works of art.

We have both held successful exhibitions and have showcased our work worldwide.

From a very young age David Minto was recognised as a gifted artist. Drawing and a love of literature have always been the passions in his life. His mother always claimed that he was born with a pencil in his hand! “The first drawings I ever sold were in the playground at school, they would put orders in for scenes from The Eagle and the DC comics. “
A career in freelance art consisted of producing graphics and cartoons for a number of clients; charities, book covers, theatre groups, community projects, games companies etc.
Ralph Steadman and the early work of Gerald Scarfe were major influences. He has produced illustrated biographies of Hemingway, James Joyce and Charles Dickens. “I first read their work as a teenager and have been re-reading them ever since, Ulysses, in particular, seemed to me to be a book begging for illustration.” He has also produced a set of black and white illustrations for Dickens' A Christmas Carol.
All of these projects were inspired by a passion for their writings and a compulsion to illustrate both their words and lives.

Lenora Minto is a freelance ceramic, glass and metals artist. Working from her studio in Birmingham, England, she combined motherhood with a successful career in ceramic product design and manufacture, public arts and teaching.
She subscribes firmly to the belief that “being a creative is an involuntary process, you're constantly collecting references and information from everywhere you go, to everyone you meet”.
A major influence in all of Lenora's artwork comes from literature, poetry, language and typography, with Shakespeare, Shelley and the war poets being early favourites. She has vast experience working in a wide range of materials and is particularly skilled working in ceramics/porcelain and kiln cast glass with metals, obtaining distinctions and a first class B. A. Hons in both.
She has taught a wide range of art processes to a diverse range of learners here and abroad.
