For 18th-century Britons, Constantinople, now Istanbul, was perceived as a city of charm, exoticism and historical pedigree. In 1798, British interest in the city increased dramatically when the nation joined forces with the Ottoman Empire against Napoleon. Being the capital of that Empire, Constantinople featured heavily in British news reports of the time.

These brilliantly coloured and highly detailed aquatints depict Constantinople in 8 consecutive plates to form one wide-angled view. It is an adapted reproduction of an enormous 360 degree painting called a panorama which was installed in London's Leicester Square between 1801 and 1802.

He developed new art styles and he taught his methods to his students. Most of the awards he received was for his novel ideas and techniques in art education. He has been invited to give speeches at schools and universities. Nano Drawing New York City, Special series 15 by awarded Artist Meliksah Soyturk

About the art piece :
This is inspired my own neighborhood Manhattan.

ABOUT MY DRAWING TECHIQUE
My drawing technique is the product of combining the techniques of modern topographic artists from
Albrecht Dürer to other priors such as Thomas Allom, William Henry, Jean BaptistaHilai, etc, and modern
gravure artists that I cannot count their names and together with inspiring of Turkish embroidery and
miniature art. This technique is neither an architectural drawing nor a charcoal sketch nor a gravure
draft nor a miniature but blending of all those arts.
For my technique I benefit from four following methods;
1. Some simple drawings as all artists use; drawings by copying and modeling.
2. A special blending technique belonging to me. First of all I determine the subject and cognize the art
work that I am going to draw. Then I provide all the angles of the art work and engrave them to the work
by blending them and acquiring a different angle.
3. We apply the same technique on old gravures, too, and we acquire a nostalgic drawing.
4. Engraving inside the calligraphy. I engrave the holy places inside the calligraphy like miniature.
ABOUT THE RESEARCH
The researches include photographs of the subjects from different angles, old gravures and satellite
maps. Thus, I have rich sources for my drawings.
