This sturdy lidded bean pot was a part of every cook's.
This sturdy lidded bean pot was a part of every cook's basic cocina (kitchen), and would have been parked at the back of the stove, or even over an open fire, slowly cooking the day's beans to perfection. It's in excellent vintage condition, with no chips or cracks, and the painted decoration is stable, other than a bit of chipping of paint on the orange flower from wear that's been touched up. buy The cupped lid is unusual, and has two vent holes. The rounded handles also have a cupped, upturned appearance as well. There are old burn marks around the bottom rim of the pot, as the pot's underside is not glazed. It should not be used for cooking now as lead was used back then to stabilize the clay. A wonderful addition to any Mexican pottery collection, or use it on a kitchen counter for biscuits or cookies or anything dry.
