Little Prattler's Picture Primer with Many Illustrations buy Published by George Routledge & Sons London Antique Children's Book

A charming rare antique children's book entitled 'Little Prattler's Picture Primer With Many Illustrations' published by George Routledge And Sons, London. Although the book is undated there is an inscription on the inside which reads; Harry Robert Peverly, from Grandma Lelden, Christmas 1878.

This little antique primer book, which taught children to read and learn the alphabet, is profusely illustrated with black and white line drawings. The contents include; Illustrated Alphabet, Letters and Diphthongs, Words of Two - Six Letters, Easy Reading Lessons, The Months, All Things Are of Use, About Horses. There are many delightful tales and poems as well.

The front and back boards are covered in warm amber colored cloth which highlights a paste-on lithograph of a little girl, dressed in her finery, complete with a fur muff. The title lettering and decorative designs are accented in black.

The rare antique children's primer has been lovingly read as one would imagine so there are a few minor tears, buy still very readable. The measurements; 5 1/2"x 8 1/4".

A wonderful addition to an antique children's book collection.
