Description: Two antique German children's books. Rare. Undated (circa 1880-1900). Covers worn. Some foxing and soiling to pages. Both volumes appear to have been published as part of a series of books for school children, with each having a serial issue number at the foot of the front cover. Both are in stiff-card covers.

1) Das neue Einmaleins: Features eight pages of color illustrations portraying simple multiplications buy and matching rhymes (e.g. "3 x 9 = 27 / Bruderlein, ich geh' mach Danzig"). 9 pp. 22.5 x 16 cm. [Book number 123.] The first page of text (which is not illustrated) opens with a poem: Das Einmaleins ("Wer's Einmaleins nicht grundlich kann, Ist oft im Leben schlimm daran...").

2) Das Schone ABC: Pages are loose; a couple pages have edge chips. Six pages of color ABC illustrations with corresponding rhymes (H/h: "Ich bin Husar - wie mich das freut! / War ich's noch nicht, so wurd'ich's heut"). 10 pp. 21 x 15 cm. [Book number 145.] The first page of text (which is not illustrated) opens with three poems: Die Schule ("O, wie herrlich o wie schon / Ist es, in die Schule geh'n!..."), Katzchen im Schnee ("A B C, Das Katschen lies in' Schnee..."), and Das fleissige Kind ("Sonst war ich klein, jetzt bin ich gross...").
