buy Hand thrown on the potters wheel this elegant vessel is layered with several different glazes. The effect is an ancient subdued very light blue, beige and cream with dark highlights on the edges. This same glaze makes a mysterious blue to cream inside. It features three winged scarabs, one on each side, and texture to catch the glaze creating a mottled look. These vessels take about a week to make. Each one has to be designed and thrown, dry to leather hard then trimmed, texturized and the carved scarabs applied. It has to dry to bone dry before it is fired for 10 hours and then glazed with at least 3 different types of gaze, let dry and then fire for 14 hours more. The cool down takes almost as long as the fire and then the foot or bottom is sanded smooth. Each is unique and completely hand made. Use to decorate a table, counter or shelf, add flowers and it makes a beautiful vase. It can hold food, dried flowers or nothing at all.
