This stunning boho cross body, hippie, gypsy chic, festival fringe, custom designed cross body handbag, with its lovely paisley design, makes me think of the Persian mathemetician, astronomer and poet, Omar Kyyam.

The front of this cross body bag is a divine Paisley satin Jacquard, in shades of teal, ivory, buttercream, citrus yellow, dijon, asparagus, and rosewood.

The edges of the bag are framed with a a beautiful reembroidered, tasseled trim in ivory and celery.

The reinforced strap, and side gusset are a stunning rust salmon and ivory, textured, Italian Jacquard.

The purse flap has an artfully arranged collage of fabrics, including a sumptuous textured gold silk Jacquard damask, a woven herringbone stripe in shades of teal, light teal, candlelight and moon glow gold, and a woven Jacquard in rust salmon and honey gold. The edges of the purse flap is embellished with a whisper of salmon rust fringe, and a vintage silver and teal floral brooch graces the bottom right edge.

The back of the bag is a luscious candlelight gold, Italian silk Jacquard.

A floral garden linen lines the inside of the bag, and has a multitude of pockets just the right size for carrying sunglasses, cell phone, keys, makeup, pens, credit cards, a notepad, and even a small book. Perhaps the Rubiyat of Omar Kyyam, so you can read more of his sublime poetry.

All magnetic snaps are strengthened with an additional double layer of fabric on each side, for durability.
All handbag straps are created with double layers of fabric for strength.
All buttons are sewn with double reinforced, professional tailoring techniques.

Because Lotus Rising bags are made from reclaimed and repurposed materials, picked up in a multitude of locations, with each new shopping trip an adventure of discovery, and each new purchase a delight of a found treasures, most of my bags are rare, novel, and uncommonly, one of a kind. Being handstitched, and not stamped out en masse, factory conveyor belt style, you may also, from time to time, notice slight imperfections, or pieces that may have slightly different colors side by side, or interesting textural mixes. That is part of the fun of sewing and purchasing products made from reclaimed materials, that have a smattering of this, and a dab of that, a texture here, a splash of color and a bit of lace there, all tumbled together from artistic vision to design, to cutting and piecing, and then stitching a final piece of wearable artistry.

It has also helped contribute to a fellow sentient, interconnected sister, who is challenged and disabled by systemic lupus erythmatosus, so that I might support myself financially, even thought my disability will not allow me to work outside my home any longer. It also allows me to share a portion of my proceeds from handbag sales, to help purchase much needed school and art supplies, for the precious, inner city students, who attend my daughter's design classes at the Baltimore Design School.

These amazingly gifted and talented kids are faced with the challenges of inner city living and poverty every day, and yet, through hard work, perseverance and determination, (and the love, caring, and support of a great group of teachers and administrators) they are steadily climbing to the mountain top of success, as they sharpen and develop skills and knowledge that will allow them to become some of the best and brightest artists and designers. These kids have known hardship and over come great odds, and I have no doubt they are going to rise up and change the world, bringing it ever closer to becoming, "the more beautiful world our hearts know is possible.
