Max Verboeket Glass Bowl,Verboeket Kristalunie Maastricht Glass Bowl,Free Form Swirl Glass,One of a Kind,Verboeket Kristalunieken Sculpture

This listing is for a beautiful vintage, mid century art glass bowl or freeform glass sculpture. This one of a kind blown glass bowl was made in the 60's by the renowned Dutch glass artist, Max Verboeket, for the glass house of Kristalunie of Maastricht. The hand formed bowl has a whymsical organic design of clear glass with ribbons of green and pink colors. The pontil mark on the bottom has been polished smooth. It is signed on the bottom by the artist, "Maastricht" and "305 Max Verboeket". The bowl for it's size is substantial and weighs 1 pound and 14 ounces and measures approximately 7-3/4 inches by 7 -1/4 inches and stands approximately 2-1/4 inches tall. The bowl is in excellent vintage condition with respect to age and use. It has only a few very minor surface scuffs on the interior and some surface scratches on the bottom. There are no chips or cracks or repairs. Perfect to use as a candy bowl, jewelry bowl, ashtray or perfect as a gift idea. Place it with other glass bowls on a low table creating a colorful mid century modern composition.

Maximiliaan Leo Hubert Marie Verboeket (B - 1922 Hoensbroek, D - 23 Jan 2015 Maastricht) took over the mantel of chief designer at the Kristalunie from W.J.Rozendaal in 1954. In his late teens, during the German occupation of The Netherlands, he was forced into hiding to avoid deportation buy to a concentration camp. After the war he studied at the School of Industrial Art (Kunstnijverheidsschool) in Maastricht followed by a graphic arts course at the Jan van Eyck Academy and study trips to Rome and Paris. Many of his most popular designs were inspired by the famous glass manufacturers in Scandanavia, Bohemia and Murano.
