Circa mid to late 19th century.
Incredible, complex hand painted designs in an intense array of colors. Scenes of people in conversation on a verandah, painted with a clever perspective that gives the picture panels an almost 3D effect. Finely embellished and elegant collectible antique Asian plate. The stunning colors and busy enamel paintwork remains vibrant, though this plate does have some chipping away of the enamel paint, leaving white patches in places notably on the clothes of the chatting people, and also right buy in the center medallion.
White underneath, with some small dark spots, discoloration to porcelain on beveled base, this plate has a small chip on its edge, see photo number 2.
Swag-like borders and intricate patterns depicting birds, flowers and butterflies in brilliant tones of green, gold red, pink, orange, yellow and blue. Pink and green flowers and foliage. Beveled base.
