This has not been tested. It is non-magnetic.

Dating was difficult; however, I believe this was made prior buy to the end of Britain's rule in India.

Absolutely lovely and practical if not for pens, but just for pure enjoyment.
This was part of a rather large Virginia estate. The owner had a major collection of dozens of collectible boxes, several of which will be listed in the shop.
