19th Century Gilt Filigree Brooch, Elaborate Curved Top and Bottom Fit Together, Cannetille Center, Tassel Drop with buy Wire Wrapped Dangles
This is a very decorative and interesting 19th Century brooch with filigree decorating.
This is a very decorative and interesting 19th Century brooch with filigree decorating each of the two halves of the curved piece. A cannetille style flower made of braided wire topped with a bead decorates the center, with a buy tassel like drop at the bottom, complete with 6 wire wrapped dangles.
The brooch has a slim border all around, with black paint or coating still covering parts of the groove, though much has been chipped away through the years. It can likely be removed easily and replaced, or left as is. It is an attractive piece as is, and an uncommon example of antique filigree. I was told this piece was found on a turban, and may have been associated with a fraternal group, or perhaps a souvenir from someone's travels.
The brooch measures 1 3/4" high and wide, and is finished with a c-clasp and t-bar hinge, with a sturdy straight pin in place. Apart from the loss of the black border, the piece is in fine vintage to antique condition.
The purchased piece will be sent gift boxed, wrapped and fully insured. Gift wrap is always free!
