Vintage Mexico 985 Silver Religious Pendants Set - Jesus Christ - Lady of Guadalupe - buy St. Christopher #c628

This is a beautiful set of two early Mexican religious pendants. The pendants are comprised of rare, very high purity 985 silver. The large pendant is oval in shape and displays a highly detailed depiction of Jesus Christ holding a large cross on one side. The smaller pendant or charm is also oval in shape and has images on both sides. One side has the tooled image of our lady of Guadalupe and the other side holds an image of Saint Christopher. Both pendants have attached bails with excellent hallmarks. They are both extraordinary examples of early Mexican silver work!

The large pendant measures about 1 3/4 inches long (including the bail) and 1 1/16 inch wide. The smaller pendant (or charm) is approximately 1 inch long (including the bail) and 1/2 inch wide. buy Both pieces are signed "Mexico" and hallmarked "985" in raised letters on the bails. The tops of both bails also have what appears to be a bird or eagle symbol, but it does not match any of the early Eagle marks I have seen. It could be a maker's mark symbol or a very early Eagle mark, but I was unable to positively identify it. The combined weight of the pendants is 16.4 grams.

These pendants are lovely and so well made! They are superb pieces of religious jewelry that were surely cherished in the past. They are wonderful pieces to wear to show your faith or to gift to someone in need of encouragement. Both pendants can be worn on a chain as a necklace, but being two-sided, the smaller one could also be attached to a silver charm bracelet along with other religious charms. Both pieces are in excellent vintage condition and ready to wear or to gift!
