This album is a beautifully packaged 1970s collection of the Christmas music of Mantovani, a titan of tasteful easy listening. Put it on the stereo and immediately you are back in the 1950s. This compilation re-releases music from 1950s Montevani recordings. They are not bland Muzak. They really do have charm. He treats the 14 carols on this album with respect, and you can hear it in the music. The carols include "The First Noel," "White Christmas, "Good King Wenceslas," "Silent Night": "Joy to the World," and the "Skaters' Waltz." I cannot buy remember the last time I heard the "Skaters' Waltz." It's sweet how the album refers to "O Tannenbaum" in German and "Adeste Fideles" in Latin. You are looking at an earlier era.

This album, on the time-honored London label, is in spectacular shape. Aside from a touch of wear at the corners, it looks impeccable. The vinyl records look pristine and are still encased in their original crisp dust sleeves.

This record set would make a beautiful gift to someone who loves the 1950s and that elegant Mantovani easy listening sound. Or keep it for yourself and play it while you are trimming the tree, sipping Christmas tea, or simply putting your feet up by yourself after a day of shopping or snowshoeing.
