Middle East Ohm Bracelet Sterling Panels Pin Closure Old Piece

ITEM: This silver bracelet is an older piece from the Middle East, possibly Afghanistan, Pakistan or India. I'm told the symbol is an Ohm. The symbol does look similar to a Sanskrit Ohm. It may be a regional dialect version, I'm not 100% sure at this time. The previous owner did teach Yoga and believed it to be one. Anyways, the bracelet has a hinged, two piece panel that closes by way of a pin that goes through three interlocking tabs and holds remarkably well! Because I'm unfamiliar with this particular type of closure, didn't trust it, I wore it around as I did household chores, danced around flinging my arms about and not once did that pin come loose! I clasped it straight through and then from buy the opposite end and either method worked as well as the next. I have to say, I really love this type of clasp - It's kind of counterintuitive but works! There's no stamps, hallmarks or names on this piece however it tests as sterling silver. I was told it dates to the late 40s or so. Again, it's hard to date without any stamps, makers marks or direct provenance but looking at the style of construction and patina/wear, I believe it is an older piece. Having said that, the provenance I do have goes back to the 70s, so that's the date I've got it down as. In any case, this bracelet has a very good vibe about it. It feels as good as it looks! And who couldn't use an Ohm at home?

SIZE and WEIGHT: Measuring 7” long ( interior diameter) and 3/4” wide, the panels are joined ovals with raised designs and a pin style closure on a chain, also silver. The bracelet weighs in at about 23 grams by my scale.

CONDITION: In very good vintage condition showing minimal wear overall. Age appropriate patina, darker in recessed areas, apparent. Micro abrasions in keeping with age and wear. No breaks or cracks and no serious dings. Very slightly off round, to be expected given age and wear or usage. The pin and chain closure look to be original to the piece. No kinks or knots noted. A very good example of type with excellent wearability and delightful vibe.
