Surreal Air Joust, 12"x18" Framed Giclée Poster, Black buy Wood Frame, Acrylic Covering, In the tradition of Hieronymus Bosch
Design is from the top section of David Teniers the Younger's.
Design is from the top section of David Teniers, the Younger's, 17th century painting, The Temptation of St. Anthony. It shows a surreal scene, reminiscent of Hieronymus Bosch, of a mid-air joust, in the top of a cave, between a bird with a lance and frog with a sword, both riding wingless, flying fish. The bird is using stirrups and is wearing armor, which consists of an orange colored breast plate and a helmet made from an upside down metal funnel with a burning candle sticking out of it's spout. The frog is not wearing armor and is not using stirrups and is only wearing brown pants. The bird has stuck the frog in the throat with his lance, killing him. You can see the frog's wispy soul leave it's body through it's mouth. It was obviously not a fair fight. There are also flying creatures, including one that looks like an obese bat with wings that are way too small.
