Miniature GOURDS of North Thailand have been used to Create Ornaments for Home Blessings and Protection . this is a Centuries old TRADITION of using Natural Materials to Provde Protection for Home and Temples .. . To prepare these GOURDS for Ornaments. they are first Dried.. .and then something to give it weight has been placed inside the hollow GOURD. Next, the GOURDS are WRAPPED with heavey cotton cord to the shape of the Gourd. The last step of preparation is to paint coats of LACQUER over the entire surface of the gourds. . .thi preserves the GOURDS by stengthening the surface of them . .the Art of lacquerware making has been prevailent in the SE ASIAN countries of Thailand and Burma (Myanmar ) for Centuries . . . .Shakti Travelers gathered these "SPIRIT GOURDS" At an Ethnic Market in Northern THAILAND . .where they were made by a Group of HILLTRIBE Artisans. . this was during one of our very Early travels to North Thailandin the 1990's. One last embelihment of the Gourds was a Gold Leaf TEMPLE BLESSING
