This necklace features 7 woven glass bead feather shapes, in shades of gold, red, and green, strung together on a seed bead strand. The necklaces is 17" long, with an extension chain of 3", for up to 20" total length. This allows you to adjust the necklace length for different necklines!
The feather shapes are woven using tiny, size 15 Rocaille beads to connect and outline the other beads, following a buy video pattern I found online. To make them, I started at the top, with an Ancient Gold DiscDuo bead and the green Rocailles, with a gold lined size 8 seed bead at the top. Working my way down, I added 2 Matte Gold StormDuo beads with a gold lined size 8 seed bead between them. I then outlined the StormDuos with green and red silver lined seed beads, and added a pair of Vintage Copper StormDuos separated by a 2-hole dagger bead. I outlined again with green, red, and gold seed beads, before adding the third set of StormDuos. Then I added the final picots in the green seed beads and went back up through the outline to reinforce the edges.
I made 9 of these little feathers, alternating the color of the dagger beads between red and green. I kept two out for earrings, and strung the rest on beading wire, with silver lined gold size 8 seed beads between each component and up the rest of the wire. Then I added a 3" gold extension chain and a lobster claw clasp.
While you could easily wear this for Christmas, the red and green colors are subtle enough with the gold and copper beads to wear at any time of the year!
