Black facet carved Bakelite bracelet

Pictured here is a glossy true black, or licorice, Bakelite bangle with large carved hexagonal facets. This is a wide bracelet at 1 1/4" across but is only 3/16" thick, so is less clunky than typical Bakelite bangles. The interior opening measures the standard 2 1/2" in diameter. In excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks or visible scratches (only the carving marks typically found on a facet carved bracelet). As is typical, this bracelet did not test positive with simichrome polish, but did give me that great formaldehyde smell when tested with hot water.

All Bakelite is tested using a variety of methods. These include Simichrome polish, hot water (smell test), tapping bangles together for the appropriate sound, and checking for mold lines and other discrepancies.
