This adjustable triple wrap bracelet is meticulously handcrafted with genuine larimar and solid Thai silver beads (97-99% fine silver). Beads are hand-stitched on naturally dyed, non-toxic leather cord and fastened with a sterling silver button. Adjustable lengths are approximately 21, 22, or 23 inches. Larimar is the trade name of an extremely rare blue variety of pectolite- also known as Dolphin Stone and Atlantis Stone. Pectolite is a sodium calcium silicate mineral, common around the world and most often occurring as a nondescript gray or white. It forms within cavities of basaltic lava. The substitution of copper instead of calcium gives larimar its unique blue color, which ranges from pale milky blue to vivid translucent blue green to turquoise with a characteristic white marbling which yields a pattern similar to that seen when sunlight shines through water.

Although inhabitants of the Dominican Republic were long aware of this beautiful stone, larimar did not gain commercial value until it was rediscovered in 1974 by Miguel Méndez, a local resident who found larimar pebbles in alluvial outwash on the beach buy at the foot of the Bahoruco Mountain Range. Méndez combined his daughter's name, Larissa, with the Spanish word for sea (mar), to suggest the colors of the Caribbean Sea where it was found... larimar, the ocean stone.
