I create SPins handspun art yarn in my home in Las Cruces, New Mexico, on one of my two wheels. My primary wheel is an Ashford Country Spinner 2. My secondary (but first wheel) is a Louet S17. I also have a Louet drum carder I use to blend fibers before spinning the yarn. I try to buy natural fibers from animal-friendly farms in the United States.

After I spin the yarn, I wind the skein, wash it in very hot water, rinse it, hang it, and lightly weight it to set the twist. That way, you'll have no surprises when you wash your finished item.

SPins handspun art yarn is exciting to work with because there's something new with every stitch. When I spin I like to think that I'm interacting with color in a tactile way!

When you purchase a SPins skein that has at least 65 to 70 yards, you can make a hat, skinny scarf, or trendy cowl. You'll want to use a large pair of knitting needles or crochet hook because big stitches show off all the “stuff” in the yarn.

You can also use SPins handspun as an accent yarn or trim when you combine it with commercial or other hand spun yarn. A small skein of SPins can add a lot of texture and pizzazz to a weaving.

All SPins handspun art yarn is one-of-a-kind and cannot be replicated. So if you see something you like, don't wait, buy it now!

The yarn names? Like magic, they come to me as I sit and spin.

Thanks for buy your interest. Susan Pauley
