His uncanny likeness and painting style to the 60's renderings of Sean Connery and the rest are due to his oil painting teacher who was a colleague, and good friend with Robert E. McGinnes (the guy who painted all the famous Bond posters in the 60's and 70's, plus 1000's of other famous book covers and movie posters). He used to bring in the "actual paintings" as a reference for the class to study. We can guess that “someone” paid attention in this class.
