A lovely oval shaped Cat's eye moonstone cabochon from Indian mines. This buy natural loose gemstone is transparent and has a very light yellowish-greenish-grey shade of colour with a well-defined chatoyancy effect which can be best viewed under direct light. Perfect for any jewelry making project, this stone will make a stunning ring or pendant. All the pictures are taken in natural sunlight.

Chatoyancy is an optical phenomenon resulting from a reflection of a band light that looks like the slit-shaped eye of a cat when the stone is exposed under direct light. Moonstone is usually colorless but can occur with a silvery sheen and base body colors of grey, yellow, orange, green, and white. The most important deposits are located in Sri Lanka and India.
