I handmade this cup with white stoneware clay handthrown on a pottery wheel. A day or so later, I trimmed the foot, attached a solid handle and later carved it. After it dried completely I bisque fired it to 1945*F for over 24 hours. Then I glaze painted the pottery with 4 premium glazes, River Rock, Blue Stone, Textured Turquoise and Tourmaline, applying multiple coats of each and drying between each coat. Finally, I fired it to 2232*F. for over 30 hours. High temperature firing results in stronger more durable stoneware —might survive into infinity!

Glaze painting with multiple layered glazes is my passion and often experimental. Every piece comes out differently, even when I think I have used the same materials, glazes and temperature process. This means almost all of my work is one of a kind. This is mainly because stoneware glaze can run quite unpredictably at high kin temperatures. And that is where the magic lies!
