This 7.3" x 14" Qoro Replica limited edition of 45 giclee on canvas is a print of my painting of two deer posing for me in my back woods.
Pennsylvania designated the white-tailed deer as the official state animal in 1959. The white underside of the deer's tail waves when running and is flashed as a warning when danger is sensed. An animal of incredible beauty and power, white-tailed deer are able to run up to 40 miles per hour, jump 9 foot fences, and swim 13 miles per hour. Both native Americans and settlers relied on the white-tailed deer for buckskin and food. Ten other states have designated the elegant white-tailed deer as an official state symbol as well: Arkansas - Illinois - Michigan - Mississippi - Nebraska - New Hampshire - Ohio - Oklahoma - South Carolina - Wisconsin. One day as my husband and I were walking our pup, Ally, I spotted these two wonderful creatures climbing up from the tall grasses buy. These statuesque beauties were just staring out to their right when I captured them in film. I was fascinated by their gazes and made my mind up to immortalize them in a painting titled 'Does See Does' as soon as possible. I misted back the woods behind the does because I wanted to give the feeling of a cool misty morning. Maybe these two girls are meeting up with their friends to graze the grasses for breakfast with their gal pals. Who knows? The fun of it is to create your own story for your paintings.
