buy Very old picture frame with unusual layers of detail. Dates from circa 1850 to 1880. Late Victorian or East Lake styling. The frame perimeter is black lacquer that has hand painted faux tortoiseshell effect on the frame face. The frame steps down to a gold fillet with a geometric, almost egg and dart pattern detail. The frame measures 15 1/8" by 13 1/4" by 1" deep. The inside opening is about 11 1/2" by 9 1/2". In decent condition, with the kind of wear and tear and dings and dents and small chips you would expect from something 100 to 150 years old. There's one bigger chip on the top right perimeter, and a lot of the black perimeter edging has had the black enamel chip away as the photos show. You could fairly easily cover the chipped areas with black enamel paint, but that's your choice. Original glass and backer board are included. The arched paper mat shows some tears and water stains.
