Pendant No. 514
Turquoise/Petoskey, the Turquoise is one of the softest stones to work with. Most turquoise is so soft it has to be stabilized to work with or it would crumble into pieces. The first turquoise was found in mines in Turkey in the 1600's. Once I acquire turquoise I have to slice it with a slab saw, cut and grind it to the shape, than polish it. Petoskey Stones, which are fossilized coral, were formed 350 million years ago when the glaciers came through and formed the great lakes and pushed them up from being buried in the mud. They're mostly found on the shores of northern Lake Michigan. After I find a stone I have to slice it, grind it to shape, and polish it. My pendants are finished on both sides. The pictures have front, back, and a comparison picture buy for size. All pendants come with a solid sterling silver welded link 18" chain.
