Iceland - Sólheimajökull buy glacier in the Fog

Iceland's buy Sólheimajökull glacier on the southern coast of Iceland on the way to Vik. I went on a tour walking up and over the glacier on a wet, foggy and cold September day. There were not many people there and the views were astonishing. I felt lucky to have been there on such a day. The clouds seemed to touch the ground, the fog rose up to the clouds and the water in the Jökulsárlón bay was mirror-calm. Black ash from volcanos permeates the glacier ice giving it an other worldly quality, the black ash contrasting with the blue ice, especially in the fog.

The land of glaciers, icebergs, and volcanos. Iceland is a world of wonders. This series is of the southern coast from the Snæfellsjökull Peninsula, in the west to the Sólheimajökull glacier, Jökulsárlón bay and the Diamond Beach with its black sand and Diamond icebergs. When I was there the fog never quite lifted but it created a magical world of softened shapes and subtle drama .
